This is the introduction meeting where you will meet the students (virtually - unless you are in Vancouver and want to meet students in person). Students will learn about your business, ask questions, and discuss prospective areas to focus on for the project.

Teams will deliver their proposal based on the client meetings as well as feedback they receive from their instructor. Based on this proposal and the client's insights, students will make appropriate changes, additions, etc. and begin preparing their final presentation.

Bring on MBA students from University Canada West to be your student-consultants, in a project-based experience. MBA students will work on one main project over the course of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.
Students in this course recognize that small businesses face unique challenges that can impede productivity and result in costly turnover. In this project, teams of business students with backgrounds in entrepreneurship, human resources, and organizational behaviour will analyze your organization’s structure and management to develop strategies for improvement and continued growth.
Learners
Deliverables are negotiable, and will seek to align the needs of the students and the organization.
Some final project deliverables might include:
- A presentation on key findings and recommendations
- A detailed report including their research, analysis, insights and recommendations

Project Examples
Requirements
Based on a management issue and challenges that you currently face, the students will research and analyze your organization’s goals and existing structure to provide you with strategic recommendations for growth and expansion. The course instructor will also participate in some capacity to ensure you're receiving value throughout the entirety of the project.
This course is all about students acting as consultants - working with a business to identify needs / challenges and come up with solutions and proposals for you by the end of term.
Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Create a growth strategy plan.
- Discovering and examining existing gaps in the business and developing solutions.
- Developing recommendations for your organization to meet a goal or solve a challenge.
- Building systems to optimize business processes.
- Restructuring your organization based on an organizational challenge.
- Identifying areas of your organization to focus hiring efforts.
- Suggesting incentive packages improve employee retention and morale.
- Developing strategies to improve employee productivity and satisfaction.
Additional company criteria
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
Be available the morning of January 24th at 8am or 9am PT (11am or 12pm ET) for a virtual introduction meeting.
Be available for a quick phone call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course.
How is your project relevant to the course?
Provide a dedicated contact person who is available for weekly/bi-weekly virtual calls to address students’ questions as well as periodic messages over the duration of the project.
Provide an opportunity for students to present their work and receive feedback.
Provide relevant information/data as needed for the project.
