Looking to elevate your organization, and bring it to the next level? Bring on learners from Wingate University to be your learner-consultants, in a project-based experience. Learners will work on one main project over the experience of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.


Learners in this program/experience are communication majors in this Organizational Communication course. Students devise, conduct and complete a challenging communication project. Students will also learn about career development and prepare for life after graduation.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Deliverables are negotiable, and will seek to align the needs of the learners and the organization. 


Some final project deliverables might include: 

  1. A 10-15 minute presentation on key findings and recommendations
  2. A detailed report including their research, analysis, insights and recommendations

Project Examples

Requirements

Learners in groups of 3-5 will work with your company to identify your needs and provide actionable recommendations, based on their in-depth research and analysis.


Project activities that learners can complete may include, but are not limited to: 


  1. Explain the importance of communication in organizations.
  2. Describe the methods of communicating effectively in organizations.
  3. Identify and analyze facilitating and hindering forces in effective communications within and outside organizational life.
  4. Develop and deliver effective interpersonal communications.
  5. Explain theory and practice of team building, networking, coaching, conflict resolution, negotiation, meeting management, and problem solving.
  6. Describe how communication and organizational cultures relate to one another.
  7. Recognize the role of verbal and nonverbal messages and how to use them effectively.
  8. Recognize and appreciate differences in communication style based on gender and culture.



Additional company criteria

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Be available for a quick phone/virtual call with the instructor to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the experience.

Provide a dedicated contact person who is available for weekly/bi-weekly drop-ins to address learners’ questions as well as periodic messages over the duration of the project.

Provide an opportunity for learners to present their work and receive feedback.

Provide relevant information and/or data as needed for the project.
