Project feedback
Our team's experience working with SommEvents on their Cloud security enhancement project was positive and an opportunity to face a real-life project. SommEvents made the project easier because they knew exactly what they wanted, were very cooperative with giving information, and were prompt with responding to questions and meeting appointments. These and the stakeholder's collaborative approach were key to the project's success.

Project feedback
It was an absolute pleasure working with SommEvents and with Ms. Marte Belisle. She allowed our team to see her Information Technology infrastructure and to make recommendations to protect and secure her information systems. We were able to use the knowledge we received from the Lighthouse Labs Cybersecurity Bootcamp to help her, and we only wish continued success to her and her business in all their present and future endeavors.

Cloud Security Enhancement for SommEvents

SommEvents, a cloud-based organization, seeks to enhance its data security across various platforms and tools, including Asana, Quickbooks, Google Drive, and EventBrite. The project aims to identify potential vulnerabilities in these systems and ensure the safeguarding of sensitive information. Learners will conduct vulnerability testing on SommEvents' digital infrastructure, focusing on both software tools and social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. The goal is to provide a comprehensive analysis of the current security posture and recommend improvements. This project offers learners the opportunity to apply cybersecurity principles and techniques learned in the classroom to a real-world scenario, enhancing their understanding of data protection in a cloud environment.

Marketing Strategy for SommEvents

The main goal for the project is to increase awareness of SommEvents through a marketing strategy across Canada. The company creates wine experiences using wines that are not available in retail stores for team building and client retention. The experiences are led by sommeliers who make wine tasting approachable and interactive.

Market entry to USA

Is there a demand for our products and services in the US market? Market research into the US market for the products and service for SommEvents. SommEvents creates wine experiences for team building and client retention, as well as an in-home tasting experience for groups of 6 to 8 people. Is branded wine gifting an important market segment in the US? SommEvents has a complete wine gifting program that can be expanded into the US but we need to fully understand the laws and regulations of the alcohol industry in the US and know the points of distribution to cover the country, excluding Hawaii and Alaska.

Cyber Security for remote workers

This project is to create protocols and security for our data in the cloud. We work remote and have about 4-5 people who are signing in to our website and into the cloud to work. How do we keep our information secure? What protocol or best practices need to be in place to secure our information? How do we keep our passwords secure? What do I need to look for in 3rd party providers? How do I keep our client list and information secure in Quickbooks? Any recommendations for and EDR or MDR security program to look for faults in our security? Any other preventative steps that we need to add? We have 2 Mac laptops and the others work from their personal laptops.
