Learners will work on building a portfolio of feature articles over the experience of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools. Learners in this experience will demonstrate reporting and interviewing skills for feature stories, as they broaden their journalism skills, including mastery of standard mechanics for contemporary professional writing. Additionally, they will develop a commitment to the ethical practice of journalism and to the continuing role of journalists amid continuing change in society, culture and media technology.

Learners in this program/experience will research IT security policies at similar companies based on size and type, making recommendations accordingly. We will deliver our recommendations in a format that the employer deems most appropriate (presentation, paper, report) What can our learners do for your company? Learners in groups of 2-3 will work with your company to identify your needs and provide actionable recommendations, based on their in-depth research and analysis. Project activities that learners can complete may include, but are not limited to:  identifying the vulnerabilities that exist in computing systems and computing networks identifying common human factors that can increase exposure of computing systems to risk suggesting standard technological solutions for securing computing systems and networks suggesting standard educational measures to avert vulnerabilities caused by human factors

The Department of World Languages and Cultures strives to educate students to become engaged citizens who are committed to advancing social sustainability and justice with communities at all levels, from local to global. Through an interdisciplinary approach, students embrace the rich linguistic and cultural diversity found in the French-speaking world by developing knowledge, skills, and attitudes that allow them to effectively develop human relationships that foster intercultural communicative competence and citizenship . Students who take this class come from a variety of different majors and therefore come with a variety of different skills that we can use to enhance your company and fulfill your needs. They have been working on a professional portfolio. Below are our course goals : 1.      COMMUNICATION : Communicate in the target language effectively to develop relationships that foster intercultural communicative competence and citizenship. 2.      CULTURES : Embrace the rich cultural diversity of the Francophone world by using the language(s) to engage with others and a variety of topics with intercultural communicative competence. 3.      CONNECTIONS : Develop an interdisciplinary interpretation of linguistic and cultural content to use the language to function in academic and career-related situations. 4.      COMPARISONS : Understand and value similarities and differences between their own language and culture and the products, practices, and perspectives of the target language and culture. 5.      COMMUNITIES : Develop a deep understanding of social issues and challenges that affect their communities and advance change. Students will be able to use the target language to participate in workplace-related communities at home and around the world   Student learning outcomes : At the end of our course, students will be able to: 1.      Communicate using the three modes of communication (interpretive, presentational, interpersonal) in French at the level of Novice High according to the World-Readiness Standards. 3.      Connect and interpret cultural and linguistic content related to everyday activities and personal and professional life from interdisciplinary perspectives. 4.     Understand and value similarities and differences between languages and cultures by comparing the products, practices, and perspectives of the target language and culture to their personal and professional environment. 5.     Contribute to creating a community of learning in the classroom and deepen their understanding and appreciation of other communities at home and beyond.

Get introduced to process improvement including LEAN and SIX SIGMA. Review the regulations, compliance, and guidelines of healthcare quality Review patient care quality issues when creating a culture of safety, high reliability, and overall improved population health. Develop an understanding of how future healthcare policy related to quality will impact the system. What can our learners do for your company? Act as a consultant for matters of research, assessment, and evaluation. Provide project management for the research. Provide updates and feedback loops to ensure scope and timelines are met. Learners in groups of 2-3 will work with your company to identify your needs and provide actionable recommendations, based on their in-depth research and analysis. Project activities that learners can complete may include, but are not limited to:  Evaluate processes and make recommendations for improvements. Research area of interest or importance and report and present findings in a formal presentation. Partner within the organization to select an area for improvement and work toward mutually agreed upon outcomes.
